Nudity\nis inherent in humans for obvious reasons. We are born naked, and we\nadd nothing to be naked. Naked is our natural state, and we alter\nourselves to be clothed. Actually, when we were children, we were\nallowed to run around without any clothes on. The people didn't feel\nthat children shouldn't be nude or that our nudity was sexual in any\nway. We, as a society, choose how sexual we find nudity. And in the\nUnited States, nudity is very sexual. We over-sexualize nudity so\nmuch, that wearing tight clothes that show off your figure will make\npeople gossip about you. There are even rude people who make fun of\nwomen with large breasts, even if her large breasts are entirely\ncovered. We are very juvenile over here in the United States when it\ncomes to nudity. But we need to understand that nudity is not porn,\nit is life. In this article, we are going to examine why we feel that\nnudity is sexual, and what we can do to combat thinking this way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Why\ndo other countries like Ireland, France, Italy, the UK, and other\ncountries in Europe seem to have a healthy grasp on nudity? It looks\nlike the US does not. America is over-obsessed with nudity and\nsexualizing it. Like the European countries I named, America is based\nin western civilization. So when did the big nudity divide start?\nMost likely, over-sexualization began with one of our founding groups\nduring the years of the 13 colonies, the puritans. They were a\nrigorous religious group that also gave America it's hard work ethic\nand its mindset that everything about you can be improved. We must\nseek to understand what American society gains from believing that\nnudity is sexual. But one of the biggest paradoxes about American\nlife is that it is much more acceptable to watch gratuitous amounts\nof violence, death, and gore than to watch a single sex scene, When\nthis situation is brought up, it baffles Europeans on how violence is\nokay, but the nation will forever be shocked at seeing a breast on\nthe television. Even in movies, the people who have sex arent\ncompletely nude. Oftentimes, the woman is shown from waist up or the\nback view of her buttocks is shown. The man's lower body is never\nshown, and in the few movies it is shown, the film is rated NC-17.\nSo, even in the sexualization hierarchy, the man is above the woman,\nand his sexuality is more protected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While\nnudity and the naked body is not inherently sexual, as the naked body\nis just itself without its clothes on. If the viewer wishes to look\nupon a naked person and see them in the sexual light, that is their\nchoice. But that is not the nude person's choice. The person without\nclothes on did nothing to suggest that they were sexual in any way.\nThe gazer forced their will upon the naked person and added their own\ntake on the situation. So what is the responsibility of the viewer to\nwatch how they sexualize those who are not being sexual. They must\nalso understand what their sexual triggers are. It is unfair of a\nperson to project their will upon someone and then get mad at that\nperson for making them project their will upon them. The nude person\nasked for none of this. They were merely nude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Now\nhere's where America and Europe's nudity device gets even more\nprominent. America has advertising displays everywhere. And under\nthose displays, there are plenty of scantily clad women posing in\npictures on buses on billboards and on streets. Are nude women or\npartially closed women used to sell a lot of products? There is a\nsaying in advertising. Sex sells. And because of this, it is very\ncommon to see slightly sexualized advertisements. But why is it okay\nfor these women I'm posters in Billboards to be semi-nude, but a\nwoman walking down the street cannot be semi-nude? Is it because her\nnudity is her own while the women in the posters' nudity are for a\npurpose? \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Created\nin the seventies as a reaction against over-sexualization, these\npeople meant to reunite people with their bodies, nude colonies are\nhere to stay. People who join nude colonies also walk around naked in\ntheir own homes. They don't feel a sense of shame that the rest of\nthe country thinks about being naked and not having a sense of\npower.. Nude colonies have become so popular that they are even\nentire nude beaches. Now, of course, nude colonies and nude beaches\ndo not force you to take off any clothing you don't want to. They do\nnot, in reverse, sexualize being clothed. In recent years nude\ncolonies are going all across the world. There are dozens of groups\nor clubs in Europe, along with dozens of nude beaches and even some\nnude restaurants. There are a few clubs and beaches in North America,\nand some might be coming to Asia. A nude group or nude colony is\nsimply a meeting of high minded people who don't attach nudity to\nsex.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When\nit comes to being okay with nudity, even in our own homes, America\nhas some strides to make. Unity is not inherently sexual or\npornographic. Like I said before, we were born nude, and we will die\nnude. There's no reason to stigmatize it so much. The stigmatization\nof nudity could possibly lead to low self-esteem, as people are not\nallowed to appreciate their bodies without thinking of them in a\nsexual nature. And we must understand why women are not allowed to be\nnude for their own purposes, but companies can rent out their nudity\nfor their own purposes? None of these answers are easy, but if we are\npatient and observant, we can discover the solutions and find a way\nto break the cycle of sexualization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
