8 sexual myths that need to die
There are some sexual myths in our culture that just won’t die, even though these myths have been proven wrong time and time again. Here are 8 sexual myths everyone needs to stop believing.
Vaginal orgasms are real orgasms!
It is a scientific fact that many women are not able to orgasm from penetration alone. For most women to have an orgasm during sex, their clitoris must be stimulated to allow them to build an orgasm comfortably and suspend their pleasure until they hit their peak. 80% of women need oral stimulation to have an orgasm during sex. So that means 20% of women can have a vaginal orgasm. Since a clitoral orgasm is much more common than a vaginal orgasm, this has caused many people to believe that women cannot have vaginal orgasms. That is not true. Women can have several types of orgasms, including clitoral, vaginal, G-spot, anal, and a combo orgasm. But a woman who has vaginal orgasms can't always do it through regular penetration. Sometimes these ladies need vibrators to have a vaginal orgasm.
The hymen is not a cherry to be popped! And it doesn't rip during your first time!
The myth of the hymen and its perceived relation to a woman's virginity has plagued women for thousands of years. Because most cultures equate the hymen to virginity, countless women have been forced to undergo virginity tests to prove they are virgins before they get married. The person who checks if the woman's hymen is intact or not is technically trained by elders, but they have no medical training. Modern medicine and healthcare have only been around for less than 200 years. The "professionals" who checked the state of a woman's hymen had no medical basis. They relied on the misogynist belief that the hymen was a penile barrier and that a broken or nonexistent hymen meant the girl or woman had engaged in sexual intercourse.
It did not matter how much the girl said she never had sex; if there was no hymen, the community labeled her a liar. Because of negative beliefs about women with broken hymens, countless women have been thrown out of their homes, disgraced, and seen as Jezebels and sluts.
But scientists have recently discovered the real reason why hymens evolve inside the body, and it has nothing to do with the number of men a woman has had sex with. One theory, which has the strongest evidence, is that the hymen evolves inside the woman's body to protect her private parts from bacterial infection. Since the vagina is an open area, it is very easy for female babies to end up with feces inside of their vaginas. The hymen may have evolved as a barrier to keep out feces and fecal bacteria, which could be devastating to a baby's reproductive system and immune system.
Plus, even before this theory appeared in the sexual scientific community, a broken hymen does not mean that they will not engage in sex. It is common for a little girl to break or rip her hymen when she is running, playing sports, or riding a bike. It all depends on the thickness of the hymen. Some women are never born with a hymen, and other women are born with ones so thick, a doctor must cut it so that they can engage in intercourse.
So, the next time you hear anything about the virginity test and if a woman has a hymen, know that the beliefs about the hymen are based on ancient misogyny and have no basis in the modern world.
Sex always involves penetration.
Sex doesn't have to end, begin, or involve penetration at all. There are many different types of sex acts that do not revolve around penetration. If someone believes that sex has to involve penetration, then they must not believe in lesbian sex! There are many different sex acts, like oral sex, hand to genital stimulation, masturbation, stimulation by sex toys, and wild breathing tantric sex. All of these acts are a type of sexual activity and don't involve penetration at all.
A fantasy can stay in the mind. It does not have to be acted out
Everyone has a sexual fantasy and having them is nothing to be ashamed of. When it is late at night, and your mind begins to wander when you're in the mood, a naughty fantasy can help get you off faster than watching porn. Also, fulfilling sexual fantasies can be fun to perform with the right person and the right mindset. You and your partner can play teacher and schoolgirl/boy, plumber and broke woman, mistress and sex slave, or any other fun fantasies that inspire you two.
But not all fantasies are meant to be shared and fulfilled. Some fantasies are common and fun to participate in, but others are just meant for us to think about and pleasure ourselves when we are alone. We don't want it to actually happen but thinking about it makes us hot! The fantasy may be an extreme scenario that is dangerous to do with anyone or something light and vanilla, but you have no real desire to organize and do it. Either way, you don't have to fulfill your wildest fantasies, and you don't have to tell your partner about it. Even if your partner constantly asks you about your wildest fantasy, you don't have to tell them if you don't want to. Plus, if your partner is judgmental, they may see you as a different person if you tell them about your craziest fantasy, so it is best to keep it to yourself.
A bigger penis is always better.
The myth of "Bigger is better" is so prevalent in our modern society, I don’t think it will ever go away. If our culture ever does change and decides to favor average or smaller penises, it won't be for a very long time. Not every culture favors a large penis like in today's modern era. One example of a culture that thought big penises were disgusting and trashy was the ancient Greeks. They valued small penises, and that is why all the statues of their men have small penises.
So why is a large penis so popular now? Because it seems like this preference is common all over the world today. One reason could be because of modern porn. The director and the cameraman want an actor who has a large penis so they can capture his genitalia moving in and out of the woman at different angles. This is much harder to deal with a man who has a small penis.
We discussed earlier in this article that a woman's vagina does not change or shapeshift when she sleeps with multiple men, but vaginas come in different sizes. Some women will have naturally smaller vaginas, and other women will have naturally larger vaginas. It has nothing to do with the number of men they have slept with.
This means a woman with a larger vagina might favor a man with a larger penis since she will not be able to feel a smaller penis inside of her during sex. Also, the opposite is true. A woman with a small vagina might not want to have sex with a man with a large penis because it is painful, even if the woman is completely turned on and wet. If you have a small penis, don't feel down! Just find a woman whose body is compatible with yours! And no matter the size of your penis, never EVER forget to use your fingers and tongue.
A tight pussy means she has a low body count or is a virgin.
For some reason, most straight men and many straight women believe that the size of the vagina changes when a woman sleeps with multiple men. Since the dawn of time, women haters and misogynists have used this myth to shame the most private and intimate part of a woman's body. But thanks to modern sex therapists working overtime to squash the myth of the right vagina, we now know that the tightness of a woman's genitals has nothing to do with the state of her virginity.
A woman's tightness or looseness depends on her natural size, state of mind, and how turned on she is at that moment. If a woman is not properly aroused, her vagina will not loosen, and her genitals will not be wet.
The next time you hear some drunk dude or frat bro bragging about the woman he slept with last night had a pussy that ws "so tight," he's telling everyone within earshot the woman he slept with last night was not turned on at all. Yikes!
Anal sex isn't real sex, so your god won't be mad if you do it up the butt (sorry, Mormons!)
This myth is extremely persistent, especially around religious communities. No matter your religion or what god you serve, you are still a human being, and you will have sexual thoughts and feelings. You cannot pray them away as these feelings are a natural part of your human body.
Masturbating is a great way to satisfy those urges, but, fortunately, many religions also look down on masturbation even though it doesn't hurt anybody! So, if you can't have sex before marriage and you can't masturbate, what are a young man and young woman dedicated to the church or other religious body supposed to do?
And that's where anal sex comes in. Many religious young people consider it a sexual neutral zone. They have convinced themselves that their god will not punish them for engaging in it since it will not impregnate the woman, and it does not break a woman's "virginity." But anal sex is still a sex act, so your god may still get mad at you. Unless you worship the god of anal sex, who will celebrate your act and look down on you with favor and love.
No sex before marriage is one of the biggest reasons religious young people over the age of 18 get married so young. It is common for 18-year-old Mormon couples to rush over to Las Vegas, get married, have sex all weekend long, and then find a way to get an annulment on Monday morning. Sounds like a lot of work if you ask me.
Alcohol and LSD make sex better.
As much as the young people at Coachella believe drugs can improve sex, this myth is not only false; it has damaged the lives of many people. Let's start off talking about alcohol, the most popular mind and body-altering substance in the world other than caffeine.
Alcohol is a natural depressant, which means it takes longer for people to have the same reaction as they would if they didn't have any alcohol in their system. Some men can't rise to the occasion if they drink too, since the alcohol depresses their ability to get an erection. So, if people should not drink alcohol because it slows them down and makes it more difficult for men to get erections, why do people drink it?
Because it lowers nervousness or anxiety. Some people drink a glass of wine before they go on a first date or drink during the date to ease the tension in their mind. So, a glass of wine or a beer or two is ok. Just don't go overboard. Try CBD or weed instead.
If you take LSD, then sex will be absolutely better. LSD enhances all of your senses, so your touch, taste, hearing, and sight will be boosted, and you will feel things you have never felt before. But talk to anyone who has had sex while on LSD, and they'll tell you that normal sex has never been the same again.
They don't feel as stimulated as they once did before LSD. Some people take so much LSD throughout their life that their senses are actually dulled, and it takes so much more stimulation for them to get excited or aroused.
So, if you decide to have sex while on LSD, don't take a lot of it and considered it a one-time thing.
When all of these myths are gone from society, we will all have more pleasant and fulfilling sex lives.
