Fetishes. What's that? Is this perversion?
Fetish is simply an object that can cause sexual arousal. It turns out that for each of us it could be something different. Some people like it when someone is dressed in red, for example men who enjoy women wearing underwear in this color.
This particular example is a poor one, because red generally increases libido. But if you need to shout curses during sex, it can already be a form of fetish and increase the level of experience. If both partners feel like it. It is different if he demands it from her every single time. Because otherwise he doesn't feel any excitement at all.
Another example could be the need to dress up, or dress up yourself and your partner. It can involve not only leather clothing or buying accessories such as whips, leashes and other gadgets, but also dressing up as specific characters, such as maid, policeman, or putting on masks. And it doesn't have to be a fetish either, but if a person constantly wants to dress up, and in addition, always as the same character, it can already be a fetish.
Individual preferences, fetishism or perversion?
It turns out that there can be an infinite number of them. As long as it doesn't breach the law, it may turn out to be a way to make erotic life more interesting. Fetish is understood as an element which is inherent for someone to have any the sexual needs at all and to be able to satisfy them.
So we can say that the term fetishism is nothing more than getting excited and sexually satisfied by one element only. Moreover, a person who suffers from this affliction strives for having this specific element always available for him/her. However, this is not a perversion, but an impairment of sexuality that can lead to such perversion.
Especially if the fetishist starts to break the law in order to be able to satisfy his own and only his sexual needs, at the expense of others. An example of a perversion can be exhibitionists, who derive satisfaction from exposure in public places, and that is a perversion. The reason for this is that it breaks not only the law but also the rights of other people who want to be able to choose when they watch naked individuals, rather than being forced to watch someone exposed, in addition, out of surprise and in a public place.
Examples of fetishes
One example could be the need to use certain objects or requirement that specific factors occur during release of sexual tension. But not occasionally, or as a treat, but constantly, regularly and every time. For example, getting excited to see somebody's feet.
If this is the case, such a person may not pay attention to other qualities of his/her partner, but only to his/her feet. It is not important what the partner says or does, these are only feet that matter and no other body part is of interest. Interestingly, everyone has reactions to different parts of the body and other stimuli, just like to specific colors or objects. Some of them can be stimulating, others cannot.
Searching for new ways to multiply the pleasure and make sex more varied is not a problem. The problem arises when there is no other way to release sexual energy than this specific factor. It's as if there's nothing else that can stimulate a fetishist.
Can you live with that?
To be diagnosed you have to visit a specialist, which in this case is a sex therapist or psychologist. These are the only people who can make a diagnosis as to whether someone has a problem or not. Just liking something that pleases us, excites us, or allows us to ease the tension is nothing bad, as long as it does not harm others.
Besides fetishism, there are other, definitely more serious sexual impairments. And the sooner such a problem is detected and treated, the sooner you can get rid of it and start discovering new qualities of life, and even find a partner with whom you can share your sexual fantasies and enjoy sex with each other.
